Vincent Joseph Spitale

Vincent passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the age of 89. A proud Navy veteran, Vincent lived a life of faith, service, and unwavering devotion. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus and a lifelong parishioner of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, where he was known for his steadfast presence and spiritual dedication. He never missed a Mass and always placed his faith and church above all else. Deeply religious and humble, Vincent embodied the true spirit of service by volunteering for countless church functions and offering his time wherever it was needed. He lived each day with the guiding light of his Catholic faith and inspired all who knew him with his quiet strength and devotion. In his spare time, Vincent enjoyed watching sports and was a huge LSU fan. Vincent earned the title of the Independence Sicilian Heritage Festival King II and was so proud. He adored his family deeply, especially the ones that called him Paw Paw. Vincent was an incredible man that left his family with countless wonderful memories and will be forever missed. He is survived by his daughter, Bernadette Spitale Klene (Dennis Jr.); son, David J. Spitale (Sherri); step-daughters, Karen Gregory (Jimmy Sr.), Robin Abrams (Charles); grandchildren, Kristen Sargent (Heath), Jason Emmons, Lauren Klene, Angel Spitale (Jeff), Rachel Spitale, Samuel Freeman (Brianna), Brendan Freeman, Thomas Myers, Grace Myers, Jimmy Gregory (Chasity), Jeni Dunnington (John), Kevin Gregory (Karlie), Taylor Abrams (Kayla); 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Vincent was preceded in death by his wives, Bessie Prescia Spitale, Rose Ann Mannino Taylor Spitale; parents, Joe and Anna Spitale; 5 sisters; and 9 brothers. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home at 12012 Hwy 190 W Hammond, LA 70401 on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, June 6, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Reuben Dykes will officiate with interment to follow in Colonial Cemetery.
