Lloyd Edward Rogers

Lloyd Edward Rogers A lifelong resident of Albany and a loving father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great great-grandfather. Lloyd passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at his residence at the age of 90. He was retired from the United States Postal Service with 30 years of service. He was Postmaster of the Independence Post Office for 17 years. Lloyd was an outstanding Mayor of Albany while serving as the Sunday school director at Blood River Baptist Church. He served our country as a Navy Seaman in the Korean War. Lloyd loved spending time with his family, going to church to praise the Lord, going out to eat and traveling from time to time. He loved to go square dancing, but he especially enjoyed dancing with his sweetheart. Lloyd enjoyed going rabbit hunting with Jessie Fletcher. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed. Lloyd leaves behind his twin sons, James David “Jamey Duke” Rogers (Regina), and Joseph Daryl “Doodle Squat” Rogers (Teresa); grandchildren, Tiffani (Troy), Brandy (Randy), Jason (Mandi), Chelsea (Ryan), Jady Rae (Robbie) and Darilyn; great-grandchildren, Haylee, Jordan, Raylin, Emily, Reagan, Reece, Beckett, Reed, and Sonny; great great-grandchildren, Drayke, Sawyer, Kaston, Lacelynn, and Bowen as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Evy Fletcher Rogers; daughter, Bridget Rogers Pearson (Bobby); parents, Merrel and Edith Rogers; brothers, Bill Rogers, Frederick “Freck” Rogers, and Charles Buddy Rogers; sisters, Katherine King, Barbara Keen and Sandra Creel and his precious great great-grandchild (Angel baby at 10 weeks). Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, on Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until religious service at 2:00p.m. Rev. Keith Payne and Rev. Josh Peeler will officiate the services and interment will follow in Blood River Baptist Church Cemetery.
