Joy Lynn Howell

Joy, age 76, went to her heavenly home on Monday, July 8, 2024. She was a native of Jacksonville, Florida and a resident of Hammond, Louisiana. Joy enjoyed gardening and caring for her dog, Savannah. She received an associate’s degree in early childhood development and spent her time being a devoted wife and mother. She was a true matriarch of her family and was proud to be a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to such a large family. She will be forever loved and missed by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Wesley Howell; daughters, Kimberly Stevens, Tabitha Stevens, and Melanie Howell; sons, Timothy Stevens and Christopher Stevens; sister, Barbara Godbolt; brothers, George William “Bill” Roberts (Jeri) and Donald Marlin Roberts (Debra); grandchildren, Jeromey Alva (Nichole), Jason Stevens (Sylvia), Toby Stevens, Heather Stevens, Joseph Stevens (Brittney), Christopher Stevens (Halley), Kyle Stevens, Christian Stevens, Chance Stevens, Brendon Peters (Valerie), Amanda Hill (Tyler), Charlie Peters, Lordan Shawn Peters, Joshua Foreman, Layla Howell, Morgan Wallace, Elizabeth Foreman, Johnny Foreman, and Christina Robinette; great-grandchildren, Tyler Alva (Lenny Fritsch), Gabby Alva, Kailyn Alva, Jeromey Guaraggi, Joshua Stevens, Justice Alva, Jaden Moade, Daniel Alva, Jason Tyler Stevens, Abby Stevens, Nathan Coker, Elizabeth Coker, Brylei Coker, Kayson Stevens, Miles Stevens, Jaxson Stevens, Elizabeth Anthony, Mariah Peters, Wesley Peters, Alexander Hill, Adeline Hill, Roman Hill, Joshlyn Foreman, Arabella Brignac, Chloe Braase, Edith Braase, and Amelia Braase; and her fur-bestie, Savannah. Joy is preceded in death by her parents; Thomas and Bessie Roberts; grandparents, William and Rebecca Nazworthy and George Roberts; brothers, Thomas Paul Roberts, Dennis Wayne Roberts, Gerry Kent Roberts, Robert Michael Roberts, Roger Dale Roberts, and Gary Glen Roberts; and grandchildren, Amanda Lee Stevens, Jessica Lynn Gibson, and Daniel Lee Stevens. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home at 12012 Hwy 190 W. Hammond, LA 70403 on Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Howell Cemetery.
