James Ray Cifreo "Brother"

James, age 88, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 9, 2024. He was a resident of Walker, Louisiana. James served in the Army as a Mechanic and was part of a Mechanic Fleet. He was assigned the job of taking care of his Colonel’s car and painted it every two weeks. James later went on to own many businesses including Cifreo Automotive. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing on Blind River, gardening, watching and following his grandchildren through sports, and spending time with his grandchildren and his “Mini Cat”. James had a special relationship with everyone who crossed his path. He loved to help others and often gave advice to anyone who needed it especially when it came to fixing things. Above all, James was a true family man who always put his family first. He was a proud father, brother, and “Pawpaw” who will be forever loved and missed by everyone who knew him. James is survived by his daughters, Mary Anne Hodges (Randall) and Cynthia “Cindy” Lee Wainwright (Gary); sons, James Phillip Cifreo (Julie) and John Raymond Cifreo (Rhonda); sisters, Ada Frances Watson and Theresa Sidonie “Sister” Crochet; brother, Freddie Philip Cifreo (Gwen); sisters-in-law, Shirley Cifreo and Lynn Cifreo; grandchildren, Raylee (Sean Cascaddan), Kristen (Philip Simpson), Katelyn (Brad Sumrall), Dakoda (Shelly Cifreo), Karine (Jeremy Daniel), Kourtney (Tyler Baker), Cordell (Alise Wainwright), Linzey (Lana Bowers), and Kelsey (Devin Crain); and great-grandchildren, Kady, Gavin, Pierre, Madalyn, Finn, Beckham, Kendall, Brooks, Cody, and one great-grandson on the way. James is preceded in death by his loving wife of 36 years, Marion “Rita” Pendarvis Cifreo; parents, Joseph Harry Cifreo and Estelle Mary Phillips Cifreo; brothers, Harry John “H.J.” Cifreo and Alcee Cifreo; sister, Judy Cifreo; grandsons, Garrett Oren Hodges and Cody Allen Hodges; and brothers-in-law, Charles Watson and Richard Crochet. Pallbearers will be Brent Cifreo, Brian Cifreo, Craig Cifreo, Dakoda Cifreo, Cordell Wainwright, Samuel Cifreo, Devin Crain, and (Little) Ronny Hart. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronny Hart, and Bubba Pendarvis. The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Joseph Hospice for their loving and caring hands, care, and compassion shown to James during his time with them. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 865 Hatchell Ln. Denham Springs, LA 70726, on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Palmetto Cemetery.
