Helen Anna Lutz Kulka ?Maw-Maw? / ?Aunt Jimmy?-- believed in family values, a friend to everyone and a good neighbor. At the age of 84 and a resident of Springfield, she became an Angel in Heaven Friday, September 12, 2008 at her residence. She was born April 24, 1924 in Gretna, Louisiana to the late William Adam and Amelia Mercedez Huber Lutz. Maw Maw was always available to her family and friends whether it was behind the scenes, cooking for everyone or opening her doors for those who needed refuge during hurricanes--from weather or life itself. She was a driving force, always going the extra mile to help, never asking or looking for credit. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she always enjoyed family time together. As a great listener, she would feed your body as well as your soul. She leaves behind a daughter, Denise and her husband Bill Martin; grandsons, Heath Martin and wife Kelli Wild, Todd Martin and wife Tracey Helbach; great-grandchildren, Heather Michele Martin and Samantha Amelia Martin; step-great-grandchildren, Bethany Michelle Helbach and Hannah Nicole Brandt of Springfield and one great-grandson ?to be? in November, all of Springfield. Also surviving her are one sister and four brothers: Aline Rose Lutz Sawyer, Ernest William Lutz, Foriest Frank Lutz, Donald Adam Lutz and twin brother, Ronald Jacob Lutz. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank O. Kluka; sister, Amelia Lenora Lutz Cheramie and brother, Burton Byron Lutz. Her legacy extends well beyond her family and her community. She had a long rich life, full of travels, a loving family, many friends and a giving heart. She will be missed by all. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond on Tuesday, September 16th at 1:00 p.m. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Monday, September 15th from 6:00 p.m. until 9.00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, September 16th beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service time. Rev Bud Traylor will officiate the services assisted by Rev. Tim McJunkin and interment will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery in Albany. The family will receive friends at a reception following the services at their home, 26015 Hwy 43 in Springfield.
