Revelations 21:4 The hour glass with it’s sands of time has slowly but surely spilled it’s contents and with the last sand, went the life of our loved one. Evelyn Doughty, on February 23, 2021, at her home in Hammond, Louisiana. Evelyn Doughty was born on February 16, 1941 to the late George and Viola Rice in New Orleans, Louisiana. She joined church and was baptized at an early age at Second Rosehill Baptist Church under the leadership of C.P. Mitchell. Evelyn was a loyal and loving wife and mother. She had a quiet manner about her and always wore a smile on her face. She was friendly to all whom she met. She was married to Charles Doughty, Sr. on September 29, 1962 to this union six children were born. Evelyn leaves to cherish her memories: five daughtersd: Rosiland Pines, Laura Doughty, Carla Doughty, Sharon Doughty, and Christy Doughty, son: Elder Charles (Shlondon) Doughty, Jr. all of Hammond, LA, thirteen grandchildren: Raymond Glasper, Jr., Constance Pines, Erin Doughty, Charles D. Doughty, Bobby Doughty, Me’gall Doughty of all of Hammond, LA, Tamara Doughty of Texas, Milton Doughty, Brandon James, Tyrone Llyod, Jr. all of Hammond, LA, eight great-grandchildren, two sisters: Albertha (Alvin) Daniels of Texas, Shirley Scott of Hammond, LA, and a very special and devoted friend: Joyce Shelvin of Ponchatoula, LA, close cousin: Ronnie Williams of Hammond, LA, and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles Doughty, Sr., parents: George and Viola Rice, brother: George Rice and her grandparents: Willie and Albertha Harris. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday, March 2 2021, at Greater Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The interment will follow at Holly Gardens Cemetery.
