Curtis Lee Thompson

Curtis, age 85, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025. He was a native of Baton Rouge, LA and a longtime resident of Greenwell Springs, LA with his wife and children. Curtis was a graduate of Istrouma High School and later went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy. Curtis was a carpenter by trade and was truly excellent in his profession and in woodworking. In his spare time, you could find him metal detecting (looking for treasures), gardening, or doing taxidermy. Curtis was a true fisherman who loved fishing, making fishing lures, and going on fishing trips with his family and friends. Curtis enjoyed spending time at the camp in Stephensville with his family and loved fishing in his “secret” fishing holes. Every Thanksgiving he truly looked forward to the annual Thompson and Normand fishing trip at Golden Meadow. These fishing trips were truly where the best memories were made, and they will never be forgotten by anyone who attended them. Curtis will be forever loved and missed. He is survived by his daughter, Meleia Thompson Ott (Josh); sons, Todd (Janis), Darrell (Suzanna), and Brad (Laurie); sister, Beverly Thompson Normand; brother, Gary (Sherryl); 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Curtis is preceded in death by his loving wife, Edythe “Tootsie” Elaine Messer Thompson; parents, Henry Lee and Annie Lerille Thompson; and brothers-in-law, Russell Normand and Bob Morris. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Louisiana Veterans Home in Jackson, LA, especially Anna and Monica, as well as Nina and Tess with Clarity Hospice for their care and comfort for Curtis. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation from the Chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 7738 Florida Blvd. Denham Springs, LA 70726, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Cody Wilson. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The Pallbearers are Chris Thompson, Brantly Thompson, Jake Thompson, Austin Thompson, Ethan Ott, and Mitch Bardsley.
