Alton Tony Sziber Sr.

Alton Tony Sziber Sr., age 83, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. He was a native of Albany, LA. Alton married the love of his life, Patricia, at New Beulah Baptist Church and then became a devoted member of Red Oak Baptist Church and Walker Baptist Church. He was a hard worker and provided a great life for his family. Alton and his wife lived the dream after retirement. They sold their home, purchased an RV, and travelled the country. Together they visited as many states as they could, camping in all the national parks, as well as working in them. Alton was a proud service member of the Army National Guard. He went to Mortuary School in Dallas, TX and became a Mortician. Although he later sold real estate and worked in the plants at Foster Grant, he always considered himself an embalmer because it was his true passion. Alton enjoyed music and was phenomenal at making music. He could record himself playing instruments and then add his voice singing over it. Alton loved working in his garden, landscaping, and growing trees. He was a wonderful brother, father, grandfather “Old Paw Paw”, and great-grandfather who will be forever missed. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Conrad (Charles “Chuck”); son, Alton Tony Sziber Jr. (Michelle); brother, Manson “Manny” Thompson (Lisa); grandchildren, Alexandria Kleinpeter (Josh), Charles “Chuck” Conrad Jr. (Jamie), Christopher Sziber (Holly), and Katie S. Hasselbeck (Travis); and great-grandchildren, Palmer Kleinpeter, Paxton Kleinpeter, Jackson Brooks Conrad, Josh Franklin, Ella Franklin, Bailee Hasselbeck, Hadley Hasselbeck, and Jack Sziber, and numerous nieces and nephews. Alton is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia “Trish” Morrison Sziber; parents, Anthony Sziber, Frances Sziber Thompson, Manson Thompson, Pearl Watts Sziber; brother, Mack Watts; and sister, Darlene Mary Thompson. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 7738 Florida Blvd, Denham Springs, LA. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Red Oak Baptist Church Cemetery. A reception will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home.
