Wilmer Richard Goodwin

June 15, 1930 - June 18, 2022

Wilmer was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the age of 92. He was born in Albany, Louisiana and resided in Independence, Louisiana. Wilmer loved and adored his family. He was a Baptist Preacher for most of his adult life. He loved to spread the word of the Lord and did so in many different parishes of Louisiana and Mississippi. He was also a business agent of the Mill Wright at the Local 720. He also spent many years as a dairy farmer and strawberry farmer. Wilmer was a one-of-a-kind man, loving husband, father, and grandfather, who will deeply be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Lucille Dubois Goodwin; sons, Danny Goodwin (Machelle) and Donny Goodwin (Susan); grandchildren, Haiden Goodwin (Darci), Ian Goodwin (Renee), Dawn Toole (Jeffery), Darla Greco (Mike), Dane Goodwin (Bryana); great-grandchildren, Adalynn and Alice Claire Goodwin, Drew Thompson, Olivia Thompson, Beau Thompson, Sabria Duffy, and Abram Duffy. Wilmer is preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Myrtle Goodwin; sisters, Gloria Bankston and Lottie Vargo; brother, Frank Goodwin. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, June 23, 2022, held in the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 12012 Hwy 190 West, Hammond, LA, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. The Interment will follow at Bankston Cemetery.
