“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, Verlie Aurora Stewart Raney, age 88, born December 11, 1931. Surrounded by her beloved family, she left this life to gain her eternal reward in Heaven on December 8, 2020 at her home in Albany. Verlie had a true servant’s heart, and her one desire was to honor God by loving others, and she did that quite well. She was faithful in her service to God, her family, and her church where she enjoyed working with other ladies in the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU). She especially enjoyed spending time with her sister-in-law, Sadie Raney, who was her life-long friend who laughed with her, cried with her, and tended to her during her last days. Verlie leaves behind two daughters, Mary Ann Ingles and husband, Tommy, Virginia White and husband, Charles, along with 12 grandchildren, Chris and Ron Roberts, Denisha and Jonathon Devall, Amy and Jason Hood, Cyndi and Jason Glascock, Jenni and Jeremy Thebault, Tina and Wayne House, Sherry and John Vidrine, Melissea Ingles, Brittany and Chris Mizell, Chris and Kayla Johnson, J.D. White and Estephany Conrad, and Jennifer Broussard. She was blessed to have had numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The daughters would like to give special thanks to Erika Davis for helping with the health needs of her grandmother during her last days. Verlie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Calvin N. Raney; parents, Charlie and Cynthia Stewart; sisters, Lucille Wagner, and Louise Stewart, brothers, Lucius Stewart, and Norman Stewart, grandson, Tommy “Bo” Ray Ingles Jr. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation from the chapel of Brandon G.
