Mary Hutchinson Bigner

August 25, 1927 - February 19, 2021

Mary Cyril Hutchinson Bigner, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a resident of Hammond, Louisiana died Friday, February 19, 2021 at the age of 93. Mary loved gardening and especially community service. She was the past president and district representative of the AARP and was honored to be selected as the Business and Professional Woman of the Year years ago and the Hammond Woman of the Year in 2017 when she was 89 years old. She also loved camping, fishing and the holidays. She is survived by her beloved children Patricia Dianne Catalanatto and Larry Eugene Bigner; sisters Thelma Cowart, Annie Alvarez and Betty Rawls; a brother, Robert Hutchinson; grandchildren Laurie Arbour, Crystal Catalanatto, Marcia Crouse, John Bigner Bernard and Stacey Bigner, Joey Bigner, and James Bigner; great grandchildren Miranda, Blake, Elizabeth, Patrick, Katie, Gabriel, Kileigh, Scotty, Paxton, River, Clayton, Alana, Luke, Ashlynn; and great great grandchildren, Sawyer and Leland. Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leonard “Buddy” Bigner; parents, Amy Marie Hutchinson and Garfield Hutchinson; brothers Richard, Virgil and Hardy Hutchinson; sisters Lucille Maklary, Martha Zeigler, Louise Stewart and Delores Jones. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 12012 Hwy 190 W, Hammond, LA on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from NOON until 2PM. The Funeral Service will begin in the funeral home chapel at 2PM. Interment to follow at Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery.
