Marvin Nolan Herring

August 16, 1938 - May 20, 2020

Marvin, born August 16, 1938, went to his Heavenly Home at Tangi Pines Nursing Home on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. He was a native of Independence where he grew up and remained for his entire life. Marvin owned his own backhoe and dump truck business for 45 years doing the work that he loved. He also loved spending time with family and friends and sitting on his front porch chewing his Red Man Tobacco. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris Anthony Herring; sons, Nolan “Moley” Herring, Terry (Vicky) Herring; daughter, Laurie Herring Hano (Frankie); sister, Geraline Herring Hogg; grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica) Herring, Jacob Herring, and Brody Hano; great-grandchildren, Landon Roberts, Logan Herring, and Bailey Herring. He is preceded in death by his parents, Simpson “Dule” and Virtis Herring; brothers, Larry Donald Herring and James Louis Herring. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, Hammond, on Sunday, May 24, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Bankston Cemetery. Due to current mandates by Gov. Edwards concerning Covid-19, the capacity of the funeral home cannot exceed 25 percent.
