Lois Yvonne Gainey Boles, 76, lifelong resident of Ponchatoula, passed away Saturday morning, February 1, 2020, in Hammond. She was born in Baton Rouge, LA, on November 26, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Clinton Jr. “C.A.” and Ethel Gainey. She was the dearly beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her four children, Debra “Debbie” Ann Ballard, William Joseph Ballard (Joyce), Sonya Renee Ballard (Matt) and Ricky Allen Boles (Michelle), seven grandchildren, Summer Nyckole Parmley (Mike), Brandon Ray Mckenzie, Jonathan Alexander Ruiz, Chandler Montgomery Ruiz (Jackie), Jesse Michael Stowe, Schuylar Diane Stowe (Jared), Clinton “Clint” Barry Boles, nine great grandchildren, Angel Rose Speer, Tyler Anthony Speer, Kaylee Marie Parmley, Alissa Jo Speer, Briana McKenzie Speer, Michael “Mikey” Joseph Parmley, Elora Lyra Cleveland, Linkoln Ray Zawacki and Cohen Liam Cleveland. She was the baby sister of Bobby Gene Gainey (Dolores) and Carrol Janet Gainey Morgan. She was the granddaughter of the late Clinton Sr. and Jane Gainey and Louis and Katie Carey. She was the Aunt to the late Jeffrey Paul Morgan, Timmy Morgan, Patty Robinson, Sharon Russ, Ronnie Morgan, Michael Gainey and Rhonda Gainey Morgan. Lois loved watching her LSU and Saints football, enjoyed reading a good murder mystery, watching the Price is Right and spending time with her family. Lois was a Wavette and graduate of Ponchatoula High School in 1962. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Locascio’s Hardware & Paint in Hammond until they closed, then worked as a Title Clerk at Community Motors in Hammond until she retired. She was truly a remarkable, kind hearted, generous lady and will be forever missed. “In life we loved her dearly. In death we love her still. In our hearts she holds a place. No one else could ever fill.” Friends and family are invited to come to Brandon G Thompson Funeral Home on February 7, 2020, 1190 Hwy 51 N, Ponchatoula, for the visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. with services starting at 1:00 p.m. With interment to follow at Sand Hill Cemetery Condolences and other information are available online at thompsoncares.com.
