Eugene "Gene" Otis Traylor
December 5, 1926 - February 27, 2021
Gene was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at the age of 94. He was a native of Hammond, Louisiana where he was known to be the person to go to if you had a problem with your lawnmower or tractor as he enjoyed tinkering with them. Gene was a family man who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons-in-law and grandsons. He honorably dedicated 2 years to serve our country in the Navy. Trinity Baptist Church was a great importance in his life where he served over 70 years as a Charter Member and 40 years as a Deacon. He retired from Maurin Motors Company where he worked for 50 years. Gene was a part of the Board of Directors at Demco for 36 years and a board member of Tangipahoa Water District for 12 years. Gene was a one of a kind man that will deeply be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Compton (Johnny) and Connie Holden (Michael); son, Michael Traylor; grandchildren, Darryn Compton (Cindy), Bryan Burleson (Kylie) and Lance Traylor (Brandi), Dr. Jennifer Alleyn (Dr. Jaime); great-grandchildren, Dylan Compton, Lani and Danny Traylor, Makenzie Burleson, Camille Alleyn and numerous nieces and nephews. Gene is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Allie Martin Traylor; parents, Otis and Mary Traylor; brothers, Edgar, Deyampert, Leo and Tellius Traylor; sister, Viola Beall East. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, March 5, 2021, held at Trinity Baptist Church located at 42062 Pumpkin Center Rd, Hammond, LA 70403, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. The interment will follow at Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery.
