Dorothy Pearl Starkey

July 20, 1941 - May 17, 2022

Dorothy Pearl Starkey Dorothy, age 80, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022. She was a resident of Loranger, LA. who lived in Albany, LA for over 30 years. Dorothy started working at the tender age of 15, by waiting tables at Middendorf’s Restaurant. For years she was their premier waitress who patrons asked for by name. Later in life she worked as a caregiver in the Medical field, putting her whole heart into caring for each and every one of her patients. Dorothy was an avid reader and loved gardening. She was always in her yard tending to her beautiful flowers. Dorothy was a people person; she never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and great-grandmother that will forever be missed. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Tecla Schillage and husband Sal, Cyndi Albanese and husband Dale Cowell; sons, John Albanese and wife Phyllis, Louis Albanese and wife Veronica; sister, Margret Leblanc and husband David; grandchildren, Heather Folse and husband Kevin, Sal Schillage Jr. and wife Maranda, Sylvia Puckett and husband AL, Alexandria Roberts and husband Jordan, Lauren Albanese and Hunter Cowell; she also has seven great-grandchildren. Ben, Eli and Archer Folse, Aria Schillage, Abbie and Riley Puckett and Charley Beth Roberts. Special niece and nephews, Darlene and Al Aymond and Todd Rainey; numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy is preceded in death by her father, Jacob “Jake” Starky; mother, Idee and step-father Buster Gulotta; sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Craig Smyser; sister, Elaine Raniey; niece, Vickey Lambert; nephew Sam Buster Cooper; and a set of infant twins. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 12012 Hwy 190 W. Hammond, LA 70401, on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with reception to follow at the American Legion Hall in Loranger.
