    Daria "Nina" Salazar Denton

    February 12, 1945 - January 27, 2022

    Daria “Nina” Salazar Denton, age 76, went to her Heavenly Home on Thursday, January 27, 2022. She was a native of Hebbronville, TX and a resident of Ponchatoula. Nina was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula, where she loved going to Sunday School. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, and looked forward to them reporting back about how delicious her meals were. Nina’s family was paramount in her life. She was very proud of her grandchildren and loved cheering them on at their competitive sporting events. She enjoyed traveling around the United States to watch their baseball, softball and soccer games and was even able to see her grandson, Chase win the World Series in South Carolina. Some of her fondest memories were spending summers with her grandchildren at her house. Nina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Harold Floyd Denton; children, Harold Placido Denton (Julie), Nina “Michelle” Denton Roy (Earl), Monique “Mo” Denton Joiner (Stormy); grandchildren, Stephanie Germany (Tim), Brittany Alford (Michael), Ashten Roy (Matthew), Ashley Roy, Madison Carpenter, Dillon Joiner (Kayla), Chase and Cole Denton; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brenlie, Natalie, Alissa, Elle, Ryan, Kamden, and Kenlee. Nina is also survived by her siblings, Cipriano Placido Salazar, Silvia Garcia, and Josie Salazar Mateos, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Delfina and Cipriano Placido Salazar; brothers, Ruben and Gilbert Salazar; infant sister, Josefina Salazar. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home in Ponchatoula (1190 Hwy. 51 North, Ponchatoula, LA 70454) on Sunday, January 30, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Services will be conducted by Dr. David Cranford.
