Claude Loren Harper

Claude, age 80, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, May 7, 2022, 38 years to the day that his dad went to his heavenly home. He was a lifelong resident of Hammond, LA. Claude was an outgoing man with a personality larger than life. He knew everyone, and made certain to visit with everyone at each event he attended. Claude’s family always came first. Going on extended vacations with his family, making lasting memories was one of his passions. Claude was very active in Farm Bureau and served as President for many years. He worked tirelessly to organize the Farmer’s Co-Op. His hopes were to instill the love of farming into future generations. He hosted many school field trips on his farm. He wanted to make sure children had the opportunity to experience farm life. He was chosen to serve on the Louisiana Department of Agriculture’s Advisory Board for Dairy Farmers. Claude was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who is already dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Claude is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Jerre Holden Harper; son, Claude Loren Harper, Jr.; daughters, Karen Caves (Thomas), Diana Cambetta (Jamie), and Jerre Lynne Whittington; grandchildren, Crystal Lato (Matthew), John L. Harper, Jessica McKneely (William), Jordan Caves (Shannon), Casie Cambetta, Christian Cambetta; great-grandchildren, Paul and Silas Lato, Lane, Bryce and Demi Caves, and Levi McKneely. Claude is preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Harper; son-in-law, Donald Dowell; and his dear close cousin, John T. Landry. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at the River Fellowship Church, 45173 River Rd, Hammond on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Johnson Cemetery.
