Carmen Guzman Harding

Carmen Guzman Harding passed away peacefully at her home in Hammond, Louisiana on Sunday April 24, 2022 at the age of 92. She was born on May 26, 1929 in Mexico City, Mexico and lived most of her life in Kenner, Louisiana. Carmen was a sweet, kind and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked most of her life in New Orleans, Louisiana as a Freight Forwarding Manager for the grain companies along the Mississippi River. Carmen was a smart and bright student and learned to speak and write the English language at Rafael Donde school in Mexico City and was bi-lingual in English and Spanish when she came to the United States. She retired from Astral International Shipping Company and spent most of her time helping her oldest son who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She did needlepoint and sewing when she had time. Carmen was preceded in death by parents Jose Guzman and Socorro Guzman; sister, Teresa Hernandez; her daughter Marie Katherine Harding and her son James David Harding. She is survived by her daughters Lilia H. Brown, Rebecca H. Dufour, her son Daniel L. Harding and her 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home at 1190 Hwy 51 N. Ponchatoula, LA 70454 at 2:00 p.m.
