Albert "Al" Campbell Jr.
March 31, 1944 - January 13, 2022
Al was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the age of 77. He was born in Provo, Utah and resided in Denham Springs, Louisiana. One would say that the Amite River in French Settlement is where he truly felt at home. There, he would pull his family, grandkids and even their friends on the boat and taught them how to wakeboard and have fun tubing. His greatest joy in life were his grandkids and he was theirs as well. Al was a Shriner and member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 50 years. He was a master woodworker, building furniture and restoring old trunks. In his younger years, he loved cars and building street rods. Photography was also a passion of his. Al would devote his photography to the water, the wildlife and especially to candid moments. His family would describe him as a jokester. It was a known fact that if he picked on you, then he truly loved you. Al was a loving and doting husband, father, and grandfather that will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Judy Campbell; children, Devan Campbell (Amy) and Kristin Trahan (Fred); sisters, Margo Szabo (Robert) and Bertie Campbell; grandchildren, Alyssa, Katelyn, Dean, Cole, and Hunter. Al is preceded in death by his daughter, Meredith Galindo; parents, Betty and Albert Campbell Sr. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, held in the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home located at 7738 Florida Blvd. Denham Springs, beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the funeral service, that will be officiated by Pastor Bill Crow, at 2:00 p.m.
