Sylvia McCrory Anthony

Sylvia, age 78, went to visit her heavenly father on Monday, March 2, 2020. She was a native and resident of Ponchatoula, LA. Sylvia was a nurse at North Oaks hospital for 24 years. She was extremely active in the American Legion Auxiliary Post 47 Ponchatoula, LA. and also on the state level. She joined the Auxiliary in 1975 was a life time member and served on the Department Finance Committee for 13 years. She was active in the 6th District Girls State program and served as medical personnel and unit Procurement Chairman at Girls state for several years. She served as 6th District Emergency Fund Chairman, and Deputy of the LA War Veterans Home. Her biggest accomplishment was her family. She was always the person who took care of us and made sure everything was taken care of. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved watching them play sports. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Debbie Anthony and wife Sandi; sons, Bobby Anthony and fiancée Tomlyn, Jimmy Anthony and wife Nancy, Jason Anthony and wife Alisa; grandchildren, Ocen-Bae Effler and husband Jason, Taylor Anthony, Hunter Anthony, James Anthony and wife Jennie, Dakota Naramore and wife Erin, Trevor Anthony, and Hayden Anthony, and T.J. Busler and wife Tecia; great-grandchildren, Wavelynn, Sheyenne, Stormy Effler, Graham and Jacob Anthony, Peyton Ditta, Archer Anthony, Alex Sepulvado, Aiden and Austin, Charley Anthony and Navon, Thena and Ezra Qamar-Busler. Sylvia is preceded in death by her loving husband, C.L. ‘Buddy’ Anthony; parents, Huey and Telsead McCrory; sisters, Bessie McCrory and Violet McCrory Rolling; brothers Alfred, Henry ‘Buddy’, Eugene, Leo, and Robert McCrory. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Louisiana Girls State Program at: Louisiana Girls Stat 6th District P.O. BOX 3749 Baton Rouge, LA 70821 in honor of Sylvia Anthony. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to a visitation from the chapel of The First United Methodist Church, 201 East Pine St., Ponchatoula Saturday, March 7, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the Funeral Service at 12:00 noon. Rev. Jessica Lowe will officiate and interment will follow in Ponchatoula Cemetery.
