Shelby William 'Bill' Newman

Shelby William “Bill” Newman, born March 7, 1935, passed away on August 19, 2026 leaving behind a lifetime of memories cherished by his family and all who knew and loved him. Bill provided for his family working for the La. Department of Transportation and Development where he later retired. After his retirement he continued to work with Les Mulkey Pest Control Company. When he wasn’t working, you could find him tending to his garden that he loved. Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He and his beloved wife, JoAnn Newman, began their life together in 1990 and were married in January 1997. Their years together were filled with love, family, laughter, and countless memories that will be treasured forever. Bill is survived by his wife, JoAnn Newman; his son, Patrick Newman and his wife, Renee; his son, Dakota Newman and partner, Annie; and daughters Alexis Newman, Tiffany Rios and her husband, Ruben, and Angel Reine Perilloux; grandsons, Michael Newman and his wife, Danielle, Ryan Perilloux, and Shawn Perilloux and his wife, Jesse; granddaughters, Lillian, Madeline, Lucia, Georgina, Lola Newman, Annaleigh and Annabelle Rios and great-grandchildren Henry Newman, Hadley and Quinlyn Newman, Emery Perilloux and Everly Perilloux. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Gallendar, and brothers, Glenn and Rudy Newman. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Shelby and Anita Newman; his sons, David and Steven Newman, his mother-in-law, Mildred “Millie” Shelton Mills; his sisters, MaryAnn Mulkey and Elsie Smith; and his brothers, Shelby Edward and Harold Newman. Bill’s greatest legacy is the family he loved so dearly. He will be remembered for the life he shared with those closest to him and for the love, memories, and traditions he leaves behind. His presence will be deeply missed, but he will continue to live on in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and all who loved him. Though he is no longer with us, the love he gave and the memories he created will remain forever. He will be deeply loved, forever remembered, and greatly missed.
