Ronald Henry Ezell Sr

On Friday June 2, 2023, Ronald Henry Ezell, Sr, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 81. Ronald was born in Amite, Louisiana on July 26,1941. He was raised in Ponchatoula, La with his two brothers and three sisters. After graduating in 1959 from Ponchatoula High School, he joined the military to support our country. After serving in the Army, he received his BS degree in Chemistry from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1966, where he was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. After beginning his career in the food industry in Missouri, he created a life in Laplace, Louisiana and began his career in the chemical industry at Union Carbide. After completing Chemical Engineering courses at the University of Chicago, he was promoted to Senior Engineer. He retired in 2000 to Springfield, LA after 33 years of service. Living life the EZ way, he made many fond memories growing up with his sisters and brothers, raising his children with his wife Barbara, and sharing companionship in his later years with Pat. He was proud of his daughters growing up to be excellent mothers and educators and his son’s success as a Chemical Engineer. His greatest enjoyment was Thanksgiving and Christmas each year with his family. Ronald was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Borzik), his parents, Daniel Allen and Annie Matil (Jarrell), and his son-in-laws, Harry Smith and James Truly. He is survived by his long-time companion, Patricia Durst, his three children, Melissa Smith, Susan Truly, Ronald Henry Ezell II, and daughter-in-law Traci (Heltz). He dearly loved his grandkids, Elaina Smith Cason (Donald), Harry “Winn” Smith III (Casey), Rebecca Smith Duckworth (Cody), Tyler Ezell, Samantha Smith, Alex Ezell, Lance Drouet, Lauren Drouet, and great grandchildren, Addison Smith and Remi Duckworth. He has a special place in his heart for Step Grandson Michael Nowak. His siblings include Lynwood (Dorothy) Ezell Sr, Aliene (late Silas) Sanchez, Darrell (Pallie) Ezell, the late Annette (Keith) Easley, and Diane (late Ray) Easley. PONCHATOULA, LA. His Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 10th 2 pm at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home - Ponchatoula, LA. Family and friends are welcome beginning at noon. A Catholic service and blessing of the grave will be scheduled at a later date.
