Robert "Bob" William Jones

Robert “Bob” William Jones, 82, passed peacefully on October 15, 2024 after living a tremendous life, impacting everyone who ever knew him. Bob’s family includes eldest daughter Tanya and husband Jerry Gee II, sons Chad Carvell and Todd Carvell, youngest daughter Rachael and husband John Paul Welther along with his loving family particularly his mother Patricia. His four grandchildren, Jerry III, Christopher, Matthew, and Stephen Gee. His extended family including sister in-law and dear friend, Linda England; his nieces & nephews along with their families, Ben, Bridget, Bobby Ray, Danielle, Denise, Derrick, John, Jordana, Mickie, & Tami, the many members of The Collective with their beloved children, his caregivers and source of strength over the last months Nikki, Melvin, Daisey, Lorri, Deda, and Tammie, and more dear friends than one could possibly count. He was greeted in Heaven by his wife Wanda Cauley Jones, parents, Rev. Olin H. Jones and Mrs. Vada Stegall Jones, two sisters, Darlene Bonnette Moreau and Ferral Jones Bonnette, sister-in-law Dyanne Cowart, brothers-in-law Bill England, JD Cauley, and Richard Moreau, and, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and many treasured friends. Trying to condense such a life and legacy into a few paragraphs is perhaps one of the most challenging aspects of the loss we are all feeling. Bob never met a stranger; he was always generous and kind to everyone. He gave even when he had little to give. He always filled the cups of those around him. His smile was contagious and lit up a room. Bob always “played the glad game”: if you’re stuck in traffic, it’s likely you needed to be to avoid a tragedy up the road. He loved with grace and understanding. He was a problem solver, a fix-it guy, and a great navigator. He always had a saying, joke, or catchphrase at the ready somehow perfectly fitting the situation. He always knew what to say. He listened as much as he talked, something rare. He truly cared about everyone, and never had a selfish motivation. Be like Bob today and every day. The world will be better for it. Pallbearers will be grandsons Jerry III, Christopher, Matthew and Stephen Gee, along with Aaron Williams, Caston Robinson, Garrett Campbell, and son-in-law John Paul Welther. DENHAM SPRINGS, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to a Visitation from the Chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 7738 Florida Blvd., Denham Springs, LA. On Friday, October 18, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. Until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Promise Land Family Cemetery, 111 Overpass Trai SW, Bouge Chitto, MS. At 12:00 noon. A celebration of life will follow at 5:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Robert Bogan Fire Museum, 427 Laurel St; Baton Rouge, LA all are invited to attend, enjoy food and drinks while sharing stories of Bob’s incredible life. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation in Bob’s memory to the program or association of your choosing to the benefit of children and teenager extra curricular activities. Bob held softball especially close to his heart but also enjoyed all sports, music, theatre, and choir.
