Oscar Benton Crain

Oscar Benton Crain passed away on October 26, 2022 at the age of 81. He was born in Albany, LA to the late John and Annie Crain. Oscar proudly served as Drill Sergeant in the United States Army from 1961-1967 and was a retired pipeliner from Local #406 Operating Engineers. He loved sitting on his porch overlooking his pond, fishing, hunting, watching western movies and The History Channel, being a great grandpa to Brooklyn and Vera Jo, and reading his Bible. He was fondly referred to as Pops, Pawpaw Oscar, Cowboy and Friend. Oscar is survived by his wife, Ruby “Pete” Crain; his sons, Osman (Shae) Crain and Dennis (Katie) Crain; his daughters, Tracie (Shawn) Schillace and Stacie Crain. Grandchildren: Mindi Crain, Chloe (Kyle) Crain Sheridan, Jordan (Kristen Mclaughlin) Schillace, Trey (Macie Braun) Schillace, Magan Hamby, Catherine Mason (Gary), Randy Miller (Shannon), and Eric Miller (Melissa). Great Grandchildren: Brooklyn Schillace, Vera Jo Sheridan, Alex, Baylor, Seth, Ali, Ryleigh, Isabella, and Julianna. Step-Daughters: Tara (James) Morgan, Linda (Keith) Scharwath, Sr. and Cindy (Luke) Crayton. Step-Grandchildren: Brett Morgan, Denise (Rick) Laborde, Kaci (Anthony) Puglia, Keith Michael (Ashley) Scharwath, Kevin (Macy) Scharwath, and Tisha White. Step- Great Grandchildren: Hunter and Haleigh Puglia, Leia, Grant and Kevin Scharwath, Jr., Seth (Gabrielle) Banks, Olivia and Abby White. Brothers and Sisters: Henry (Glenda) Crain, Charlie Crain, Mary Jane (Dub) Harper; sister-in-law, Janet Crain. Also many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Additionally, Oscar was deeply loved by Viviana “Shell” Sanchez and her sons, Roberto and Pilo Garcia. Preceded in death by his parents John and Annie Crain, brother Thomas Crain and sister Mabel Crain. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Blood River Baptist Church, with services at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Blood River Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Osman Crain, Jordan Schillace, Trey Schillace, Brett Morgan, Keith Scharwath, Jr, Kevin Scharwath, Jacob Stewart, and Hunter Puglia,. Honorary Pallbearers: Dennis Crain, Shawn Schillace, James Morgan, Luke Crayton, Keith Scharwath, Sr., Kevin Scharwath Jr., Roberto and Pilo Garcia.
