Martha Louise Mabry Mire

Martha Louise Mabry Mire, was received in the arms of her Savior on the evening of December 17, 2022, in Walker Louisiana at the age of 88. She was born in her parents' home in Gilbert, Louisiana, October 2, 1934. She is the daughter of Martha Louise Spann Wood Mabry and Norris Elmo Mabry. Martha is the loving mother of Varice Joseph Mire (deceased), Paula Mire Cryer (Freddy), Allen Paul Mire, Jr. (Patsy) John Brady Mire, (Cynthia); grandchildren Emily Mire Kimble (Rusty), Ashton Mire, Allen Paul Mire III, Devyn Mire, and Briaunna Messina; great-grandchildren, Aiden Kimble, Levi and Luna Mire, Blakely and Caroline Messina; and special niece Lynne Browder Dawson. Martha is preceded in death by husband of 35 years Allen Paul Mire Sr., and James Tellis Herron; Twelve siblings, RE Mabry, John William (JW) Wood, James Nixon Wood, Lucille Mabry Kenney, Francis Marion (Lollie) Wood, Woodrow Mabry, Norris E (Tot) Mabry, Jr., Martie Lea Mabry Browder, Claudia Mabry Parker, Clyde Harold Mabry, Albert Odell Mabry, David Richard Mabry So many things could be said about a woman who lived a full and accomplished 88 years. The recurring thing that has been said to and about her is that she raised great kids. We were her pride and joy. We are who we are because at her knee we learned to love reading, to be strong and independent, thinkers. However, the end of her life tells the story of her journey. She loved and served her God, church and community. In recent years she received the Capital Area Agency on Aging award for the most active senior in St. Helena Parish. Formerly she served as Vice President, then President of Greensburg Council on Aging. Until her death, she was still acting Secretary Treasurer on the Board of Directors. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at the 1st United Pentecostal Church of Denham Springs, 1020 S. Range Ave., Denham Springs, LA. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Interment to follow on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 in the Holly Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 5073 Hwy 562, Wisner, LA at 12 noon.
