Laurence John Russo

Laurence John Russo, 79, a resident of Ponchatoula, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, February 13, 2023 at his home. He was born December 28, 1943 and was a life-long resident of Louisiana. Laurence retired from Entergy (formerly Louisiana Power & Light Co.) in 2003 as a Sr. Safety Specialist after 40 years of dedicated service. He served proudly in the 4010th U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. After moving to Ponchatoula in 1983, Laurence joined the Ponchatoula Civil Defense and enjoyed the many years he served on the Strawberry Festival Board. He was a natural-born chef and loved preparing good food for his family and friends. His recipes, which he happily shared, were always in demand, as was his home-made country wines. He had a great love for travel and for the outdoors where he enjoyed camping with his family and bringing his grandchildren on many adventures. He will be deeply missed by all. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Charlotte Bishop Russo; Children: daughter, Paulette Russo Nata and her husband Paul; son, Brant Laurence Russo and his wife Sandi; Grandchildren, Megan Nata Parris (Joshua), Zachary Nata (Yulet), Brianna Russo Sikes (Jacob), and Brailyn Russo; Step-grandchildren, Candice Lummus, Cameron Butler, Rylie Butler, Brady Butler, and Jude Campo; Great grandchildren, Julian and Jayden Sikes; Step-great children, Dylan and Carly Lummus; brothers, Toby Russo and his wife Patricia and Robert Russo, and his wife Gayle; sisters, Dora Higgins, Mary Ann Quatrocci and her husband Paul, and Linda Russo; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dora Catherine Bolline and John Charles Russo, Sr; brothers, Ruben Russo and John Russo, Jr.; sisters, Daisy St. Germain and Violet Kincade; maternal grandparents, Dora Hahn and Andrew E. Bolline, Sr.; and paternal grandparents, Sarah Marcella and Giovanni Russo. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home at 1190 Hwy 51 North Ponchatoula, LA 70454 on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Bro. Johnny Morgan will officiate.
