James Denson Jr.

James Denson Jr. James Denson Jr. passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 at his residence. He was born to James Denson Sr. and Annie Lou Parker Denson on February 19, 1937 in Waycross, GA. James was around four years old when the family moved to Hempstead, NY., looking for better paying jobs in order to support the family. James was always motivated to better himself, at an early age he threw newspapers, shoveled snow, worked in the family’s grocery store and assisted his late father in the floor finishing business. He attended South Side Junior High School and South Side High School in Rockville Center, NY. He worked for many years as a male hospital aide and as an operating room tech at South Side Hospital, Long Island, NY. He was never satisfied with the limited low paying job opportunities that was available to him, so in 1970 he attended Stonybrooke University in Stonybrooke, NY., where he received a bachelor’s degree as an Physician’s Assistant. He took a job in Alaska providing occupational medical support to the men and women who worked on installing the pipeline. He spent approximately 8 years performing these duties. He leaves to mourn his death his devoted wife Viola; sons, Marvin and wife Dottie, Tommy and wife Patti; daughter, Adrienne; sister, Marilyn; brother, Dwight and wife Nita; Carl; granddaughter, Tori. He leaves behind his many dear friends and relatives who loved him very much, to mention a few Jackie and husband Bruce, Henry and wife Joyce, Dianne Hampton, Lillian, Aarion and wife Barbara, Willie and wife Barbara, Doris and husband Hugh, Maria Walter, Amparo, Pricilla, Marie, Wesley, Shelly, Jack and wife Sue, Analise, Ricky and wife Debbie, Maricel, Dianne Cheatham and husband Ron, Carol Holmes, and the residents of the Lake Orleans Subdivision. In lieu of flowers/plants the family requests donations be made in James’s memory to: The American Diabetes Association, P.O. Thompson Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, Monday, April 10, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the services at 11:00 a.m. with entombment to follow in Rose Memorial Park Cemetery.
