"J.C." Jewel Brownwell Jr.

Mr. J.C., age 90, of Loranger, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. J.C. was a World War II veteran that served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Tennessee. After the military, he came home and began working in the carpentry industry, and retired as a construction superintendent. Mr. J.C. was married to the love of his life, Mrs. Juanita, for seventy years. He was a devout Christian who enjoyed spreading the word of God by giving out Bibles. J.C. enjoyed learning about history, watching NASCAR, traveling the U.S., square dancing and making people happy. He also held his recreational Pilot’s License. Mr. J.C. is loved by many, and will be missed dearly. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Brownwell; daughters, Sandra McConnell, Malinda Sanchez and husband Dennis, Beth Auten and husband Richard, Rebecca Brownwell; son, Michael Brownwell and wife Myra; grandchildren, Michelle Hurst and husband Jeff, Edwin Taylor, Shawn McConnell, Crystal McConnell Nwabude and husband Martins, Athena Dawn Brownwell, Michelle Pope and husband DeJuan, Clay Busha, Kevin Benavidez, Cody Matthew Brownwell, Aaron Sanchez and wife Michelle, Brandon Sanchez and wife Tiffany, Jacob Smith, Adam Smith and wife Kayla, Sam Smith and James Brownwell ; as well as 11.5 great-grandchildren. J.C. is preceded in death by his parents, Jewel Clayton and Sammie Thomas Brownwell, a son, Thomas M. Brownwell, grandchild, Rhea Christina Brownwell, and his grandparents, Maryjane and Matt Brownwell Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation for Mr. J.C. from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The visitation will continue Saturday at Pleasant Ridge Church of God, 44291 W Pleasant Ridge Rd., Hammond, LA, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral services at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Sarah Morgan will officiate the services. Interment will follow in the Loranger Cemetery with Bro. Leon Dunn officiating the committal service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Ridge Church of God, 44291 W.
