Frances Pauline "Polly" Beyl

Born August 16, 1935. Died May 28, 2023 12.46 pm at North Oaks Memorial Hospital, Hammond, LA. Pauline or “Polly,” aged 87 years, went to her Heavenly Home on Sunday, May 28, 2023 after a short illness. She was hospitalized for heart problems on April 30, 2023 and died after many days in hospital. She was a longtime resident of the communities of Natalbany, Springfield, and Ponchatoula, Louisiana. She was a lifelong member of Natalbany Baptist Church. Pauline was a cherished foster mother, sister, aunt, grand aunt, and great aunt and will be missed dearly. Pauline graduated from Hammond High School. Pauline worked as office manager many years at Morgan & Lindsay in Hammond until the store closed. She then worked many years with her sister-in-law, Cleo Rogers, at One Hour Martinizing in Hammond as colleague and seamstress. Pauline dedicated much to her many nephews and nieces assisting her sisters in the care of their children while the parents worked. She often took nephews (Bart Kennedy) to school, or cared for them after school. She lived many years with her niece Joy and husband Vernon Patterson, caring for their children, Joshua Patterson and Elaina P. Vogt during middle and high school years. And, she participated in caring for Dean Patterson during his infant and toddler years. Since moving to Ponchatoula next to her sister-in-law, Rose, Pauline formed a bond which was deeply held by them both for thirteen years. Pauline is survived by sisters, Elaine B. Kennedy, Norma B. Whittington, and Roxie Beyl, brother John M. (Phyllis) Beyl, and sister-in-law Rose S. (Joseph) Beyl. as well as niece, and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth O. and Joseph G. Beyl, Sr.; brothers, Alfred O. Marx (Dorothy), and Joseph G. Beyl, Jr.; and sister, Louise B. Davis; her beloved niece, Joy F. Patterson, who Pauline lived with until Joy’s death. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation and funeral from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 12012 Highway 190 W, Hammond, LA 70401 on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, 1005 Western Ave. Hammond, LA.70401.
