Edna Mae Hardy Purvis

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all she met, was called to heaven to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, January 20, 2025, while at Golden Age Healthcare in Denham Springs, Louisiana surrounded by her loving family. Edna Mae Hardy Purvis was born on September 10, 1942, in Esther, Louisiana and was 82 years old. She was a native of Abbeville, Louisiana and a longtime resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana where she loved collecting dolls, fishing, camping, traveling in the RV, and Food. She was famous for her seafood gumbo and banana pudding. Edna’s passion was the small daycare center she owned and operated within the Denham Springs community. She lived to care for babies and children who became extended family members of our family for life. Edna Purvis is survived by brothers Etienne Hardy, Edward Hardy and his wife Johnnie, Evan Hardy and Sister Elsie Marks and her husband Lucien all of Abbeville LA; daughters Cindy Staples and son-in-law John Staples; Darnell Claypool; son Daniel Purvis and daughter-in-law Malissa Purvis; son-in-law Duane Housley; grandchildren Bo Staples and wife Mary Michael; Rodney Housley and wife Mechelle; Michel Purvis and wife Kristen; Billy Claypool; Ryan Housley; Jonathan Purvis and wife Kayla; Zachary Staples; Desiree Price and husband George; Joshua Purvis; Danielle and Robert Cameron; great-grandchildren Mary Bowman Staples, Sarah Staples, Virginia Staples, Brantley Housley, Harper Housley, Victoria Purvis, Emily Purvis, Aubrey Housley, Shelbie Housley, River Price, Finn Price, Harley Nelson, Reagan Nelson and Ivy Cameron; and numerous nephews and nieces. Edna was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Charles Purvis, daughter Toni Purvis Housley Richard, son-in-law Rick Claypool, Parents Angela Breaux Hardy and Etienne Michel Hardy. Thank you to the nurses and nurse aids at Golden Age Healthcare and Hospice of Baton Rouge. Pallbearers; Bo Staples, Rodney Housley, Michel Purvis, Billy Claypool, Ryan Housley, Jonathan Purvis, Zachary Staples and Paul Purvis. The visitation will be held at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 7738 Florida Blvd. Denham Springs, LA on Monday, January 27, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The visitation will resume at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 865 Hatchell Lane, Denham Springs, LA. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until Mass at 12:00 p.m. The interment will follow at Judson Baptist Church Cemetery.
