Dorothy "Dottie" Sue Brown

Dorothy Sue Brown, age 78, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life was marked by strength, stubborn determination, and a whole lot of joy. Dottie loved her children and her family fiercely, and nothing mattered more to her than being together. Family get-togethers, holidays, and shared laughter were her greatest happiness. True to who she was, she was strong and determined to attend her family Thanksgiving and Christmas in 2025, making sure she showed up for the people she loved most. Dottie was a loyal fan of the New Orleans Saints and the Kentucky Wildcats, rarely missing a chance to cheer them on. She loved playing bingo, cards, spending time at casinos, quilting, canning, and tending her garden. She took special joy in feeding her outside birds, squirrels, and just about any other creature that happened to wander by. Dottie cherished vacations with her husband in Tennessee, creating memories they held close. Music and laughter filled her life whether singing her favorite song, “Blue Moon of Kentucky” to a tree or showing off her sense of humor with legendary “pole dancing” at the pond or campground, moments her family will always smile about. Strong-willed, loving, and unforgettable, Dorothy Sue Brown leaves behind a legacy of devotion, laughter, and family traditions that will live on through all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Dottie is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Jack Brown; daughters, Jeanetta Germany (Wayne), Tonya Ledet (Albert), Angela Curtis (Wayne), Donnelle Horton (Johnny), and Nicole Matherne (Paul); sons, Billy Wagner Jr. (Elisha), Christopher Brown, and Jack Brown Jr. (Kerri); 16 grandchildren, Cy Germany (Amanda), Jacob Germany “Brother”, Wayne Germany, Tamara Hubert, Samantha Buck (Chris), Mary Ledet (Rielly), Mieka Turner (Nathan), Ashtin Collins (Joey), Sophia Brown, Jack Brown III, Miguel Laboy Jr., Dekota Laboy, Paul Laboy, Shelby Horton, Harley Horton, Gabby Matherne, and Jonathan Wagner; great-grandchildren, Skylar, Noah, Jacob, Abby, Jordan, Secillia, Charlotte, Lainey, Lola, Emma, and Zack; her fur-babies, Oscar, Chanel, Zeke, and Zepplin; as well as several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dottie is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Edna Keown; the woman who raised her, Verna Bartley; daughter, Tammy M. Flener; grandson, Brandon F. Grubbs; granddaughter, Michelle N. Germany; in-laws, Abel and Donna Brown; her loving brothers and sisters; and her fur-babies, Sabrina, Gretchen, Quizno, and Bristol.
