Charles "Chuck" Raborn Sr.

Chuck, age 74, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 23, 2024. He was a resident of Albany, LA. Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was an extremely active parishioner of St. Margaret Catholic Church and was the Grand Knight of the St. Margaret 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus. He was quite simply put, a wonderful man. If you ever had the pleasure of meeting Chuck and having even a five-minute conversation, you left with a new friend. Chuck was extremely kind and never met a stranger. He loved to go to as many LSU games as possible and liked travelling. Chuck’s favorite place to go was Alaska and he and Sandy have been on numerous Alaskan cruises. He lived for his grandbabies and held the title of Pops like a badge of honor. Chuck was such a lovable person and truly left an impact on anyone he met. He was a mentor to countless young men and took great pride in helping them become successful businessmen. Chuck was a wonderful husband, loving father, and the best Pops you could ever have. He will be forever missed. “See ya later Alligator. And if I don’t see ya, Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!” He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sandy Raborn; daughter, Marci McKnight (Larry); son, Chuck Raborn Jr. (Kristie); sisters, Nancy Hutchinson, Cheri Raborn-Anbar (Yousef); brother, Russell Raborn (Barbara); grandchildren, Larry Alan McKnight Jr. (Jennifer), Marlee McKnight Duhe (Tony), Jayce Raborn, Charlee Raborn, Katie Sheldon (Derek), Jayse Robertson (Madison); great-grandson and best bud, Preston; and all of Pops’ Little Angels, Parker, Karson, Kyler, and Jesse. He was loved by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and his entire Kentwood Raborn family. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. Raborn and Doris Raborn Yent; brothers, Robert Milton Raborn, William Riley Raborn, and David Bridges Raborn; brother-in-law, Russell D. Hutchinson; and special cousin, Larry Wayne Raborn Sr. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home at 12012 Hwy 190 W. Hammond, LA 70403 on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Recitation of the rosary will be at 4:45 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday August 28, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the St. Margaret Catholic Church Hall with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at the church at 11:00 a.m. Celebrated by Fr. Jamin David and Fr. Paul Gros. Interment will be held at St. Margaret Catholic Church Cemetery.
