Charles 'Chuck' Lavelle Wilson

Chuck, age 85, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. He was a native of Oak Grove, LA. and a longtime resident of Springfield, LA. Chuck proudly served his country in The United States Army. Being the son of a ‘sharecropper’, Chuck created and established a stable home to raise his family without constantly moving around. He supported his family by working as a skilled and gifted carpenter. He took pride in his work and the relationships with his customers. For recreation, he enjoyed going hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved spending time making memories with his family. Chuck was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who is already dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Chuck is survived by his sons, Ernie Wilson (Sue), Jimmy Wilson (Lisa), Robby Wilson, and Charles E. Wilson (Angie); companion, Gloria Massey; sisters Mary Kelley Hilyer, Rose Kelley Harrington, Jean Kelley Jones, and Dorothy Kelley Caldaron; grandchildren, Crystal Wilson, Sandy Firman (Lane), Chassity McAllister (David), Scott Robertson, Allison Wilson, Victoria Wilson, Kimberly Wilson; great-grandchildren, Joshua Wilson (Sydney), Kolby Dechara (Yennifer), Joseph Jones, Sean Skinner, Brennan McAllister, Hagen McAllister, Andi McAllister, Trevor Pierre, Gavin Pierre, Alyssa Hering, Avery Firman, Emily Cook, Oliver Wilson, Kinsley Wilson, and Griffin Wilson: great-great-grandchildren, Shane Wilson, Oakleigh Wilson, Issac Wilson and Isabella Dechara; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Chuck is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Velma ‘Sister’ Foster Wilson; parents, Ernest Turner Kelley and Edith May Reid Kelley; biological father, Adolph D. Wilson; grandparents, William Kelley (Josephine)and William Reid (Lavinia), and George Wilson; brothers James and Ardley Kelley; sisters, Joyce Barton and Nell Turnbow; grandchildren, Mathew Wilson, Frankie Martin, Charles Marvin Wilson, and Sara Jane Wilson. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation from the Chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 12012 Hwy 190 West Hammond, LA. on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, April 22, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Foster Cemetery in Springfield.
