Blanche Jacobs Guillot-Cloy

Blanche J. Guillot-Cloy, age 75, of Hammond, LA, passed away on April 23, 2024, at her residence. Blanche was born in McComb, MS. She grew up in Baton Rouge and later moved to Hammond. Blanche had a passion for teaching and dedicated her career to education. She received her Bachelor of Education from Southeastern Louisiana University and furthered her studies at Louisiana State University, obtaining her master’s degree +30 hours and Principalship. Throughout her teaching career, Blanche taught at various schools, including White Castle, Northdale Magnet, P.M. School and Glen Oaks High School. She also founded Northwood Prep, a charter school for At-Risk students, which she considered one of her greatest accomplishments. She retired from Southeastern Louisiana University doing what she loved most, helping to guide young adults through their educational paths. Blanche spent her remaining years devoting herself to her family, gardening, singing in her church choir and socializing with the residents of Summerfield Assisted Living. Blanche is survived by her husband Larry Cloy, children Rand Smith (Christine), M'Leese Myers (John), Ericka Aucoin (Jason), Katie Foster, Richard Cloy, Kate Stroth (David) and Devin McKee; siblings Nelson Jacobs (Dale), Lisa Willis and Van Jacobs; grandchildren Paige, Jordan, Ashlyn, Averie, Jordan, Stephanie, Nick, Alexis, Kaila, Sean, Benjamin, Konner, Logan, Jackson, Ben and Jacob; 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband Dr. Randall Smith, her second husband, Dr. Fred Guillot, and her parents, Addie and John Jacobs. Blanche was known for her compassionate and caring nature, her love for mentoring others, and her charismatic personality. She was a devoted Christian who touched the lives of many through her kindness and dedication to education. The family would like to thank her beloved granddaughter, Kaila, for the special care and dedication she had for her Grandmother! The family would also like to thank her special caregivers, at Summerfield, for their kindness and love they showed Blanche for the past 10 months. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation from the Chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 12012 Hwy 190 West Hammond, LA. on Monday, April 29, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. A Committal Service and Interment will take place in Hollywood Cemetery, 900 Pennsylvania Ave, McComb, MS. 39648 beginning promptly at 3:00 p.m.
