Billy Hart Bennett

Billy Hart Bennett Billy, age 75, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024. He was a native of Ferriday, Louisiana and a resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana. As a young man, Billy served in the Army during the Vietnam War. After having a career at ExxonMobil, he took an early retirement and then went into industrial sales. His last career move took him to Ward II in Denham Springs as a Probation Officer. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, friend, and grandfather, but his most treasured role was Pap. He loved spending time with family and friends, as well as his four legged babies. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, whatever season it may be. He also enjoyed many sports. He played sports at Zachary High School and went on to play semipro baseball. He was proud to start a family tradition being the first of three generations of throwing a knuckleball. Later he went on to coach his son and daughter. In most recent years, his favorite pastime was watching his grandchildren Jace and Riley playing ball. He loved going to support DSHS over the years with his dear friends. As a man of strong faith, he also enjoyed going to his weekly Bible study classes at church. Anyone who knew him knows how much of a character he was. He was a man that loved to laugh and make others around him laugh. He is survived by his loving wife Pamela, and they had been together for 57 years. Together, they have a son, Danny (Danielle), and a daughter, Angela (Bill Quirk). He has three grandchildren: Landon Turner (Abby), Jace Bennett, Riley Bennett; and one great grandson, Drake Turner. He is survived by his brother, Jeff Bennett and sister, Mandy Grandeury. Billy is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Horton Bennett; his father, Julius Means Bennett; son, Baby Boy Bennett. Pallbearers will be: Jace Bennett, Chuck Boudreaux, Bill Quirk, Robbie Sanchez, Landon Turner, and Jeffrey Wales. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jack Anderson, Ernie Gromatzky, Jimmy Brown, and Kenny Fogg. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude’s or First Baptist Church. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at the First Baptist Church of Denham Springs, 27735 LA-16, Denham Springs, LA 70726, on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 10:00am until the Funeral Service at 12:00pm.
