Aubert "Bert" Jesse Powell

Bert, a proud veteran who honorably served his country with dedication and courage, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at the age of 75. Known for his unwavering commitment to his family, community, and the values he held dear, Bert’s legacy of service and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was a native of Tickfaw and a long-term resident of Kentwood, LA. After his service to our country, Bert was on the road a lot as a Professional Truck-Driver, so when he wasn’t working and he was looking to relax, you could often find Bert at home enjoying sports on TV; mostly football and especially his favorite team to follow, the New Orleans Saints. Talking with Bert would often conjure up delightful memories, and he would reminisce wonderfully about the ‘Good Ol’ Days’ gone by. His family always came first. Bert loved the Lord and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who is already dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bert is survived by his son, Richard ‘Richie’ Powell (Carla); stepdaughters, Dena Guyn, and Donna Rogers; stepbrothers, Darryl Addison, Byron Addison, and Warren Addison (Rhonda); grandchildren, Hunter Powell, Victoria Powell, Haley Wilkinson (John), Andrew Peters, Rachel Starrett (Haden), Jeremiah Danhour, and Jamie McLemore; great-grandchildren, Carley Wilkinson, Ryder Starrett, Remi Starrett, Waylon King, and Jordyn James Peters; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Bert is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth M. Powell; parents, Jesse and Gladys Powell; stepfather, Carl Addison; brothers, Claude Powell, and (twin) Michael ‘Mike’ Powell; stepson, Scott Pevey, stepdaughter Debbie Smith, grandsons, Jordon Danhour, Jacob Danhour, and Johnny McLemore. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation from the Chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 12012 Hwy 190 West Hammond, LA. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Graveside Service at the First Baptist Church of Tickfaw, Shelah Cemetery, 14265 Hwy442, Tickfaw, LA, officiated by Rev. Richard Taylor, Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
